Coloured Glass to Brighten-up Summer Lighting

April 2021 - Offering a range of sculptural lighting pieces for the home, Vancouver-based design and manufacturing company Bocci, presents an array of vibrantly-hued glassware for a refreshing summer update.

Ideal for ambient, low-light settings, or bright, energetic spaces; Bocci produces design-led pieces for a variety of placements, from floor lights and table lights, to pendants and wall mounts.

A range of innovative glass-blowing techniques are applied to imbue each hand-blown Bocci piece with a unique texture and colour of light. Pictured below, the 73 collection (2, 5, 7, 9) is constructed by blowing molten glass into folded ceramic fabric to shape a textural, fluid form; whereas the 28 collection (1, 3, 8, 11) is the result of manipulating temperature and air flow to create an opaque milky finish.

About Bocci

Bocci is a design research studio, lab and factory based in Vancouver, Canada. The team is made up of designers and architects, glassblowers and metalworkers, carpenters and chemists, engineers and artists. Together they celebrate the interaction of the craft knowledge between these skills, experimenting, collaborating and learning as they go. Bocci products are punctuation marks in the studio’s ongoing study of matter and process.

Every single Bocci product is handmade. Each one is variously blown, poured, carved, polished, packed and dispatched directly from their Vancouver base. As such, no two products are identical; they are individual, irregular and unique expressions of evolving research.
